Hi, just finished reading The Chaparral Murders. Was wondering if you had any updates recently. I was given this book by a friend, after reading this I am not sure that I could have sent Rusty to jail (had I been on the jury) based on the lack of facts. The people they interviewed as witnesses, where just kids most of them. What a tough case. I appreciate your depth of research, I know how hard it must of been. Please keep us posted. Thank you.

Hi Deb. Thank you for your kind comments. Rusty has had a succession of attorney's appointed to review his case but unfortunately court appointed attorneys are not given sufficient funding to deal with a case like this. In spite of all this he clings to hope that he might be exonerated and be released one day. His newest attorney grew up in Parsons and seems to be more interested that the previous ones. We hope he will find a way.

I am encouraged by your interest.

Best Regards

Thank you Margaret for the reply. I so hope that the new attorney can shed some light on Rustys case. It sure is a shame. I intend to pass this book on to others. But Im just not ready to let go of it, just yet. I keep reading back over it, wondering how in the world he was so easily convicted. I wish him the best. Thank you again for telling all the facts. Maybe one day the truth will be seen.
Thanks Deb

Hello Margaret. I went on a road trip yesterday. I visited most of the places in Parsons where the events of 23 Aug 1982 supposedly took place. Most of them are gone. But it at least painted a picture in my mind. I am still confused about where they found Timmy. I went to Clover Run, that place is huge. I am hoping though that there are some updates on Rusty's case. Did they ever have access to autopsy photos? Just curious. I wish we could speak sometime, I, like you hate to think if Rusty is innocent hes still incarcerated.
Thanks for listening
Deb

Hi again Deb. I am glad to hear you visited Parsons and the various locations. I only got a rough idea where Timmy's body was found from the police report. The State Trooper I interviewed for the book and who attended the recovery of his remains refused to show me where he was found. To my knowledge the autopsy photos were never released to his attorneys. There has been no activity on his case for a several years. It makes no sense to me at all. If he had pled guilty he would have been released by now. If you wish to discuss this further you can email me at margaretstoddart@outlook.com
Thanks,
Margaret
